    Default My site's seo

If anybody would be willing to take the time to check out my site and comment on how to improve the seo i'd be very grateful. I'm really struggling to get it ranked. Also, any comments on anything in general would be very well recieved. Thanks in advance.

First of, you have 1 link, if you want to rank you need more.
A lot of you're content is copied, just did a quick look but still.

So, more links and fresh content, if you can't write, buy.
And take a look at you're site in firefox 3

What content is copied? The only real content i have other than the deals and links are the two articles that i wrote myself. If you've seem them anywhere else please let me know. I'm finding it very hard to get links. All the ones i have are supposed to be reciperical through link exchange sites, but i can only find my link on 3 of them. Any advice on how to get quality links?

Looked at copyscape again and it looks like you have not copied anything, sorry, looks like it's the footer, you haven't made that site you're self right?

About the links, you can always ask other poker webmasters if they want to trade.
This might not be super quality but still ok, only one way links:

The site's basicaly a skin of rakeaway.com as i use their registration and tracking system. Thanks for the link. It should be useful. I haven't asked any other poker sites to swap links with me as they're generally competing directly with me so it doesn't seem to make alot of sense. Do you think it would be in my interest to ask them?

Yeah for sure ask other poker webmasters. First make sure your content is unique and well written and you have put forth a good effort into your site. And then go ahead and ask other affiliates if they would like to exchange links, but don't do it in a spammy way.

You need a unique description with the keywords you are trying to rank for on for each page.

Structure your site with tags for the headlines. The main headline of the site should be enclosed in <h1> tags, the sub headlines in <h2> and sub sub headlines in <h3>.

Randy's page is definitely worth a read. I don't agree with everything he says but he's a very experienced SEO guy and won't steer you wrong.

I guess it's counter-intuitive to newer webmasters that you would want to link to your "competition" but this is actually the best way to help yourself. We might be competitors but there's thousands, tens of thousands of other competitors out there and when we get together to help each other out we each get one leg up on the rest. This is the way you have to look at it.

By the way if you're not comfortable with obvious outlinks on your content pages as I'm not it isn't even needed. You'll no doubt get some people who will tell you not to do this, those who haven't done it for a long time and seen it work that is, but you can have your links the same color as the rest of your text and not have it matter to the SE's. The consensus among experts here and I'm talking those who actually do or did this is that it's not a problem at all, unlike some black hat stuff like hiding links in letters or using blind linked text or the like. The reason is that same color links are a legitimate choice and a matter of webmaster preference while there's nothing natural and defensible about the other stuff. Some people like myself prefer clean looking pages without a lot of color clutter or worse, underlined stuff

You're a long way away from even thinking about external content links anyway. Start with a link page and get some poker links up there and go from there. Don't be afraid to link to sites which are authorities in the business whether or not they link back, and they usually won't, but it shows that you care for your visitors whether or not very many people visit the page. For those who do though if you provide them with useful info they may appreciate it and come back and the SE's will also give you some props here too.

There's quite a bit of dispute about this actually and whether it's really needed or not and whether or not SE's care about the html format or just the idea behind it. I'm one of those who believe that it's the idea behind it meaning headlines not created with headers are as god or better if done properly. This is really all about text size and the html headers are so damn ugly anyway We can agree that you should be using headlines and in particular a main one anyway. I'm going to be playing around a bit with the other stuff and will let you know how it comes out.
