    Default Problems with rel=alternate + hreflang

    I'm pretty sure I'm doing this write but I don't know what the hold up is.

    On: Party Poker: Review and Deposit Bonus Codes

    I'm trying to get it to redirect all pt-br and pt-pt languages to go to:

    Party Poker: Análise e Códigos de Bônus de Depósito

    Here is the code I have before the </head> tag:

    <link rel="alternate" hreflang="pt-br" href="http://rakeback.grinderschool.com/party-poker-br" />
    <link rel="alternate" hreflang="pt-PT" href="http://rakeback.grinderschool.com/party-poker-br" />
    <link rel="alternate" hreflang="pt-BR" href="http://rakeback.grinderschool.com/party-poker-br" />

    I must be missing something but not sure what it is.

    Thanks for your help, this is my first translation page .

    That code isn't redirection code, I'm pretty sure it only tells Google what language / region you're targeting and that this is translated content. You'll still need to redirect your traffic.

    You also want to be sure you're telling Google what the preferred version of the page is. More info from G

    I'm also not 100% on this, but aren't pt-BR and pt-PT fairly different languages?

    Thanks for the info. I've looked into redirecting via .htaccess and I've added this to the file:

    #The 'Accept-Language' header starts with 'pt'
    RewriteCond %{HTTP:Accept-Language} (pt) [NC]
    RewriteRule ^party-poker.php$ Party Poker: Análise e Códigos de Bônus de Depósito [R,L]

    But still no luck. I've also add a rel="canoncial" to the page, but that wont matter too much yet until I can get the actual redirects working.
