Default I need some advice regarding this content please.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi guys.

I am writting a blog about my minted poker bankroll challenge.

Within this blog I am posting about how things are going as well as basic stratergys that I am using to beat the games.

This is my question. Would I be better off breaking the blog up say into three posts per page rather than having everything on the one page.?

The reason that I ask is I'm wondering if by breaking it down, I can concentrate more on key words with in each post for SEO and also if the extra pages I get from breaking it up will be classed as additional content (pages of) on my site?

    I hope that makes sense.

Here is my work so far to help you make sense of what I'm asking Minted Poker Challenge, any input regarding the above will be welcomed.

    Thanks

This is not so much about seo, but more of an idea I got when looking at your site.

I would break it up on several pages and have some kind of overview on the front page - maybe an update graph and 2 paragraphs describing what it is all about and then either a link to each "episode" or a link to a page with a more indepth description and links to each episode.

I think it will get "messy" if you continue posting new updates. This is not so much about seo, but more what I think visitors will do. Most people won't be scrolling more than once or twice to find what they are looking for, and if they don't, they just leave.

So if somebody are searching for "Moving up to NL20", and click through to your site, they may not see the post you have about that, since they won't be scrolling that far down. If it had its own separate page, they would see it, and may want to read something more.

I'd say to break it up. If users don't like what they see, they are unlikely to scroll down to see more. If you only show excerpts, they will get a much broader picture of your blog and you are more likely to keep them around. It's just more likely they will immediately see something they like.

I think this is especially true because you have lots of other stuff on your site besides the blog, so you will have lots of traffic clicking right to the main blog page as opposed to coming from search engines to a specific post page where this wouldn't matter.

Not to mention, you can get away with more banners and links without worrying about looking like a jackass, just put them beyond the excerpt so they're not all on the main blog page.

You're going to have so many bounced visitors. Consider what the website visitor sees when then they go to this page. Visitor is going there to read updates on your bankroll challenge or find out more details, correct?

Okay so they come to the page. First they see the big TAG Poker logo and navigation bar. Then on the left is tons of rakeback offers, and on the right is a login option(which doesn't explain why you should login, or gives a link to register a new account). under that is a Deuces Cracked video, and rakeback news. In the middle is a "Brokerstars $50-$5000" mention, then a picture of two people. All this, and I've still not found what I am looking for.

All this, and I've still not found any content about the bankroll challenge. Considering how quickly visitors decide on a site, they're going to be turned off very quickly.

Okay so I see a bunch of content down lower in the middle of the browser screen, so I scroll down....but rather than reading your updates, how your bankroll is doing, details about the bankroll challenge etc I'm reading about reverse implied odds and dominated hands.

Bankroll challenges can be a fun read, but you need to make that the full focus of the site, and so when people visit the site they can get a quick update immediately as to how you are doing, and then that will hook them to read more. Like a graph at the top - and if it has a huge spike one day or something, people are obviously going to want to keep reading etc.

Basically if I go to that page, I should know within 30 seconds what the bankroll challenge is, why you are doing it, what you are playing, where you are playing, your username, how you are doing so far, and other details, so that I can begin to identify with you.

As for your original question - 3 posts per page is best. You might even consider posting an excerpt and having the reader have the option to read more. That way they can pick and choose what to read based on what the general theme of the article is.

BTW get RSS Feed & Mailing List set up for updates too so people can keep updated, and give that priority real estate.

    Good advice Dealer Dan.

You need to focus more on what will attract readers and you've got one screen really to capture their attention. I don't mind the ads but you better deliver down the middle. Like "Dan" says you aren't doing enough to capture their interest.

I really don't like excerpts but I think a table of contents for at least this page with a brief summary (unique not duplicate) would be fine and readers could skip ahead to the #. This would especially be helpful for readers who are coming back to read more.

I don't like the reverse chron order and it's kind of like reading a book backwards. If you have a way to navigate the posts though up front then this isn't a problem.

You can fill your contents with enough KW's and in fact this is a better way to control the first page as you can do more with titles and descriptions than full articles, and you've got the content to back you up elsewhere.

Depending on the length of the posts you might even want to do one per page. 3 is fine though. More is too much. Two to three screens is enough.

By the way your home page is brutally slow. You might want to cut down on the graphics there.

I went through and read your first page...the two things that struck me was the order of your posts.... I'd like to read from latest to most current (top to bottom) that way I can see how you improved/failed. Also, I think that it'd be more interesting if you were to pick out a key hand or two and elaborated on it. Maybe why you played that hand, what you were hoping to hit, thoughts on your opponent, maybe his/her playing range, etc.. Basically thoughts you'd have while actually playing. It seems as if it's more strategy related... Overall though I think it's pretty good.

    You guys are amazing.

Thankyou so much for your input.

I will be getting to work on this right away and I'll re - post when I have modified it.

I knew I wasn't really making the most of what was there and when I was looking at it I asked myself "whould I read this?" I of course said yes I would but there may be an element of biast in that.

I've got a whole list of things to do and thanks again for such detailed replys.

Nice! Now that's what I'm talking about!

You might want to link Minted Poker so folks don't have to look at the list on the left to find your rakeback link. I might want to talk about it a little more as well!

I chose Minted Poker primarily because it's so easy to win money there and on top of that they give a great rakaback of 40% which is an unbeatable combination. Let's take these guys down!
