Post-Penguin Htag Value?

So far it looks to me like the value of H1 and H2 tags have gone way down, or at least for the purpose of ranking for exact keywords. I guess it makes sense based on what we're learning about what G wants now, which is more unique, less keyword targeted. Am I wrong, or are other people seeing this too?

If this is correct, I'm assuming this means we should be looking to create longer, more unique htags to reduce potential over-optimization. This may not help us for the exact kw we desire to rank for, but could help us across the board.

Prior to Penguin: Best UK Poker Sites

Post-Penguin (change to): I Live in the UK, What are the Best Poker Sites for Me?

In regards to title tags, I'm not seeing a lot of direct affect other than possibly causing over-optimization penalties. However, many of the top sites still have exact kw matching title tags, which tells me that title tags have less value now as well (more value put on other elements).

What do YOU think?

So far im thinking, h1 tag can be right on, but reuse of the keywords get devalued (maybe even penalized) in every subsequent h2 h3 tag.

I think its too early for anyone to tell about alot of onpage factors yet as many are still trying to figure out their overoptimized link profiles.

I haven't seen any change in the usefulness of Hx headers. It might be worth running some experiments but I would be wary of taking any claims of Penguin analysis very seriously at this point. No one really knows what Google did with Penguin.

keyword stuffers getting caught basically. As long as it is not excessive then no change needed imo

I don't think you should change the general formatting of articles. Making article scanable and easy read is key, and by reducing your htag formatting, in many cases hinders the reader IMO.

Like MM said, I wouldn't take anyone's theories at this point, best thing to do is run some side by sides and see if you see a big change.
