So not long ago i was introduced to this but all my ears got was the old motto "content is king".

Any of you have any idea what "content with intent" means in real plain old english?

Content with an intention to achieve something in particular is the very short answer.

I think you mean keyword intent/search intent? In other words, if you can identify the searcher's intent when they search for something, you can do a better job of writing content to serve their needs.

Things to do...

Find keywords with high commercial intent.

Write content to pre-sell the visitor so when they click on your aff link they will be ready to purchase/sign-up.

Commercial intent is a nice way to put it. Search terms have various degrees of this.
