How important are these?

I've submitted my site to the free directories but I want to know what you guys think of the premium directories. How much of an impact do they have on your ranking?

I'm specifically interested in what you giys think about these directories, JoeAnt, GoGuides, and Best of the Web, among others.

Finally am I right in thinking that Google has a big update planned for the end of this month?

Broker, as far as I know, free directories won't help you much.

I mean, it's probably better to pay $25 for a good article than for a multiple directory submission.
