Default Nice Article On SEO Myths at SEOmoz

Top quality article over at SEOmoz today I thought it was worth linking to... goes into some SEO Myths, nice levels of detail on key points and many links to advanced articles along the way - oh and a flow-chart which can be used to find out more when your rankings disappear too... if only it could explain why one of my 'lill sites has the listing with sub-links underneath when you search by name, but has recently stopped ranking for anything - hmmmm, anyway.

Very interesting, definitely learned some things. I'm still using meta-tags though, screw everyone.

And Ask. There is some misinformation in the article. For example, the idea that one link outweighs repeating keywords in page copy is absolute nonsense.

I do try to follow what SEOmoz says because they tend to focus on the longterm best practice. My worry is that focussing on stuff that works in the short term , (like keyword density and bolding), will eventually get found out by the google algo.... and what was once a cash cow, will be no longer.

But then again, maybe it is best to get a bit "grey hat" and try to earn some cash in the short term?

There is nothing short term about the use of bold in your copy. It predates the current search engines and they are all taking it into consideration.

Keyword density hasn't been used in 10 years.

Thanks. This one would also be relevant to the current discussion:
