Default Volume per page of internal linking

So I'm pretty sure that one of my sites needs some new content and the primary goal of this new content will be to build links to some keyword rich content that I am currently trying to get to rank.

I plan to write 50 pages to build links for 5 pages that I hope will rank really well in the future. So I have made a big list of articles I can write of which relate to the keyword rich pages.

My question is what is the optimum number of links I can place per page on my new content pages to boost my other pages serps?

Any input much appreciated as always.

I don't think there an optimum, but I would just link to those other pages when it makes sense to do it. Don't over do it and don't under do it. Just link to those pages naturally when it comes up in your content.

The optimum number of links per page is 42.

Thanks for the response Mark - I guess I was just worried that if I had like 10 outbound links on one page then it might lessen the overall effect.

Randy I realize there is no optimum number and should probably worded my first post a bit better.

The more links you place on a page where the links use the same or similar anchor text, the more likely the page itself will be to rank for that anchor text. Remember that search engines index anchor text as part of both the linking page and the destination page.

If you don't want the new content to outrank your older pages, you should make sure you don't stack up the anchor text on any new page.

You can experiment a little bit by using different combinations of anchor text and link counts and see what happens.
