    Default Wordpress SEO question

Believe it or not, I hadn't installed wordpress on a site until last night. I am pretty new to it all but I had a question that relates to SEO.

If I want to have a blog on my site will linking to it as MYSITE.com/blog/ and then using one of the default wordpress templates work just fine?

Or should I get someone to install wordpress into my static site template?

Also, is the .com/blog/ fine for SEO or should I make "blog" more of a keyword for what the blog is about?

    Thanks for your help,
    Kevin

What is the goal you hope to achieve? There is no generic SEO principle that relates to your question.

By that, I mean where you place your blog, how you integrate into you site, and what you call it (or what keywords you use in its name) must be determined on the basis of just about everything else but search engine optimization.

SEO is about what you do with your site to achieve your marketing objectives through search referral traffic. So I think you need to articulate what the point of your blog will be before anyone can provide a meaningful answer.

OK, in this case I was thinking about my sports betting site, which is a static site. I want to publish sports news articles on a blog (that will link back to some of my sports betting articles).

Would there be any negative effects of creating the blog with a wordpress theme that I'm not using on the rest of the site?

Sorry if I am not explaining it properly, just let me know

I'd invest in having your template themed to match, in the case of your templates this should be really easy to do.

From an SEO angle, it shouldn't matter if it matches, but from a visitors side it is always good to match. You don't want anyone thinking they have left your site.

Thanks for the answers guys. So its more so for the visitors, and it doesn't make too much a different SEO wise... I will probably just invest the $100-200 to get wordpress installed in my template.

I agree with the others. For SEO it doesn't matter how many themes you use on a Web site. It's the user experience that should guide your design strategy. For that I would preferr a single theme or two very closely associated themes in the scenario you describe.

    You're welcome

I always had the hardest time getting wordpress to do what I wanted from an seo standpoint so I would start a blog and then ditch it. Finally I started to understand it a little and now I can work with it, but it took quite a few tries. I guess I am saying keep working with it and you will get it down.
