Question link strategy for new content

I'm hoping some of the SEO gurus can chime in on this question regarding introducing new content to my website.

Currently, my website consists of a main area, and a blog. The blog has the bulk of my incoming links due to affiliations in the blogging community. Am I wise to take advantage of this by first introducing the majority of my website's new content to my blog, and then later on... say a month down the road, relocating the content and doing a redirect to place the information in a relevant place on my website to further leverage the "power" of the incoming links to my blog - later directing the flow to my main portion of the website?

For example, the main portion of my website has a place for poker room reviews... I decide to write a review on poker room abc. Because I have more incoming links to my blog, I write the review, post it to my blog - which in turn my belief is that the blog provides me a better chance to rank sooner and higher in terms of search results. Later on, I do a redirect, placing this page into the portion of the website dedicated to poker room reviews, with the hopes of driving traffic towards the main part of my website. Is this line of thinking correct, with respect to the current state of my incoming links or should I perhaps employ a different strategy?

I would do a couple things. Place your static content wherever it is supposed to go on your site. Do not place it on the blog first. Make sure your navigation is set up correctly so that all content is no more than 2, or maybe 3 clicks away from any other page on the site to ensure the free flow of link juice.

If you want to leverage the power of your blog, you could do a weekly "What's new" post and link to all new pages on your site in a newsletter-style post. It doesn't have to be weekly - just a suggestion.

Any content that "needs" to rank quickly should be added to your blog permanently, imo. Timely pieces like news and promotions. Anything like a review does not "need" to rank quickly. If you are worried about content ranking quickly, you are approaching it with the wrong mindset. As long as spiders crawl your site regularly, and your internal linking is set up optimally, publish it and forget it. (Unless you want to build links or promote it in any way - via your blog or any other method.)

Thank you very much. This is EXACTLY the kind of feedback I was looking for.

I'll agree with Nick. I'm not a big fan of moving stuff around after it's achieved something in the search environment. I've had to do this for a number of reasons but it hurts more than it helps, in my opinion.
