.org or .net???

I'm just abouts to buy a new domain name and I see that I have the choice of two.

One ends with .org and the other .net

My question is this, does it make any difference in terms of search engine results at all which one I go for?

It doesn't make a difference in terms of ranking.

I like .orgs. I made a thread about the same thing and from what I remember everyone agreed that they have the same amount of "power" when it comes to ranking, but the slight majority preferred working with .orgs.

I think it's more of a preference thing at the end of the day.

I'd also buy them both, but build the site on .net. Some people think having a .org will rank better because most .org websites do. They rank better naturally because usually they are exactly that, organizations and generate natural, high powerful links similiar to .edu.

I go for .com then .net and if is something i really want i sometimes settle with .org when the others are not avalible. I dont have any sites where i have both .com and.net

I buy up all extensions if possible, if you are actually building an earning portal it makes sense to protect your brand name.
