New Search - Bing

Microsoft is launching a new search engine, Bing. They advertise it as a "decision engine" vs. a search engine. It will help answer some questions you have related to your search like weather, flight information, etc.

Microsoft, you have to be a bit more innovative than that.

When it comes to question-answering search engines, Ask has been doing that for about 10 years.

Give Bing a chance before writing it off. I'm not saying I expect it to be great. I'm just saying Google is really nothing special when it comes to search engines.

I just noticed this morning I am getting some traffic from the Bing search engine. Is anyone else starting to see any traffic?

I just BINGed my name and see that not only am I for sale on eBay, I may actually get up to 8% cashback for myself if I buy me.

Google doesn't offer rebates like that.

MSN/Live has had cash back built into search for awhile now. Microsoft acting as both search algorithm and affiliate marketer for those searches doesn't leave me much faith in the results.

They appear to be making improvements throughout the day.

Don't be so quick to write it off. 100 million people a month use Microsoft search. If you haven't been getting any traffic from Microsoft before, now is the time to see how you can leverage their search audience into your marketing plans.

Yeah, I started to see a few searches come through on it yesterday. Nothing major.

What's with the name though? Are MS really trying to play the "poor, honourable company that's trying to break a big nasty company's monopoly" card?
