I've read various posts debating whether or not the length of a url makes a difference to the search engines. Is there any definitive answer to this?
Thanks.

If the URL is more than 200 characters long, search engines may pass on it but I see lots of very long URLs in the search results all day long.
It makes sense for the user to have short URLs to work with. They are easier to type in and remember.

If your looking for a definitive answer, then I doubt you will find one.
Plus it kind of depends on the subject and to what words it would make sense to have in a url if your going for the kwyword approach.
If your going for the brand approach, surely erring on the smaller side would be more beneficial.
This is the point then... In my own opinion, it's better to have a shorter URL than the long one. Your avid readers will easily remember your site url.
In fact, having more catchy and concise URL matters most. Not just a short one but the one that is related and easy to remember word.
Thanks!
