Redirecting Question

I have this idea, but there is one thing standing in my way I am not sure about.

If I were to get a page to rank for a specific keyword phrase, and then redirect that page to another site, would that mess up the rankings?

If it is on the same domain you may be able to transfer some value, however, I very much doubt that it would be lasting, and if the pages aren't very similar I would expect that it wouldn't work.

If it is on different domains I very much doubt that any value would be transfered.
