    Default More Google Questions

Have a few questions that people here might be able to help with:

If i have 2 sites, pokersite1 and pokersite2 and link site to site 2, will Google know/care that i own both sites if I have them both in Webmaster Tools. Also, will they treat the link any way differently?

If I create a new site and do some testing using black hat (maybe grey hat) methods, will Google penalize any of my other sites or do anything to any of my Whitehat sites. i guess this question is related to the first question in a way as it may have a bearing as to whether or not google somehow groups sites you own together.

They won't treat the link differently from my experiences, providing you are diversified in your linking.

As for SEO testing, your "non-offending" sites "should not" get penalized.

i agree totally. When i hooked one of my sites up to one of those spammy auto link exchange programmes, google penalised it harshly, and when i removed the programme, google removed the penalty. In all of that time, none of my other sites which are all interlinked were affected at all.

Cool, that's good to know. I didn't want to risk any penalties on my bread and butter sites while I experiment with a few techniques.

Google will not not that you owned those sites. Infact, Google will give credit to your two site having a link exchange. Good Job.

You will recognized how Link Exchange and Affiliated links are important.

Google is a domain registrar. If you don't want them to know you own a site, register it anonymously through a proxy service.

If you have only 2 sites and one does naughty things and gets penalized or banned, the other site should be okay.

If you have 200 sites and all but one do naughty things and get caught, you should probably write off the 200th site as well (but it might survive).

Generally speaking, the more you rely on tricks, gimmicks, and suspect techniques and technologies, the more likely you'll burn yourself.

BTW -- be careful about buying tools and software from the black hat community. A lot of that stuff only goes on sale after the creators decide it doesn't have much of a lifespan left (or has only minimal value anyway).

Think about it this way: if the tool or software is really THAT good, why is the guy selling it rather than using it to make a fortune for himself?

I would suggest you not to use blackhat techniques. It will lead you site into penalization. Don't risk your stuff on the web.

Well I'm interested in a more grey hat technique for an experimental site. It's definitely not black hat and it's a site that has a very specific small market to target.

Grey hat = somewhere between black hat and white hat. Kinda like a grey area.
