I totally agree with Kaus & Randy. It's kinda like someone saying "hmmm, I see tall guys doing well in the NBA...so I'm gonna go get taller guys for my NBA team". Of course they would right? Every good idea ever has been copied and expanded on, that is business.

Instead, use it as fuel for your fire and let it motivate you to work harder and protect what you see as 'your turf'.

When you've explained this (between your original post and the second post you made), are you meaning it to suggest that someone has just cornered the market via targeting specific keywords, or are you meaning something more towards you and a potential or past partner had an idea, and they ditched you and marketed the hell out of it?

To me, taking an idea in confidence and running with it is rude, whereas attacking and targeting keywords relentlessly is internet marketing...

That I agree with. There are some niches I wont touch, either because I've worked for someone or they're just a friend and Im not gonna bother with it. With or without a contract.

Ive given domains away that would do well in a particular niche because I feel it's hands off, or refused to offer advice because I dont want to step on toes in that way.

Mind you not everyone is like that - and I guess that's ok to. it comes down to their personal feelings and ethics and even than, unless its in writing, I doubt there is anything you could do.

There is a reason so many of us work 18 hours days 7 days a week, because that is what it takes to get ahead. While you are resting and checking stats, I'm expanding on keywords and getting links. If I take a break, I expect you to do the same thing.

Like kaus said, you never own niches or KW's. If you want to be on top, do the work and never except being just #1 for a KW. Try and be #1, #2, #3 etc and fight for the whole f'ing first page. There is several great KW's where I own more than 50% of the 1st page in google. So if competitors want to come after it, they have to fight 6 of my websites for it.

In the end, it sounds like you are a bit soured and its a tough awakening in this biz. You need to put in some more time and re-take what was once yours. Don't settle for JUST being #1

Randy you a-hole! Because of you I've stopped myself from checking my stats several times today, lol. Instead, all I've done is get a bunch of real work done. You've stolen away perfectly good screw-off time from me.

Actually, the idea of not checking all my stats for the rest of the month is kind of exciting.

Hey Randy....tell me about how you never browse the affiliate forums because while we're doing that you're busy kicking ass. I'll accept an IM or PM too.

LOL, I'm just as guilty as anyone when it comes to reading forums, checking stats, etc. As my good friend use to say "its all about awareness". Once you are aware you then have the power to choose.

Also, I have google analytics and WOOPRA for stats. If you think google is a time waster, imagine LIVE stats that are really really detailed!
