    Default Small SEO problem

I have a page I had to recently take down from one my sites. This page is on front page of Google and has PR2. It's a rakeback deal froma site that no longer offers rakeback.

What is the best way for me to deal with that?

If I redirect it to my homepage will that incur a penalty?

No - in fact re-directing is probably the only thing you can do.

Stick a 301 in your .htaccess file before Google comes along and finds a 404 at the original URL.

you can redirect it to another page (be it home page or a closely related, even similar page), or you can put a page similar with content modified to meet your needs if it is getting traffic.

I would leave the page there and rewrite it to let all the visitors know that unfortunately the site no longer exists. I would then recommend to them the next best alternative (mentioning why) and link to the alternative rakeback room page.

You can redirect it to the most closely related page. Redirecting to the most accurate page can't cause you a penalty.

On the other hand, you can also re-optimize that page and make changes.
