Is Google "slightly off"?!

I was checking some rankings as I have dropped from top 4 on SERP 1 to SERP 2 for phrase free poker and discovered the following site on SERP 1.

freeslots.com (PR7, 8th position)

free poker - Google Search

Now checking out this site, there's not much about free poker there... The site is all about free slots.

So has Google completely lost it, or what?

I checked it and its only PR6. Do not bother mate. Maybe Google is just updating their indexed pages. As you may know, every 10 minutes, your keyword ranking can be changed.

Sometimes, its not about your site niche/ content. In this case, Google gave importance most the way the owner promote his keyword "free poker".

Keep on competing.

Possibly because its such a strong site and it does mention poker a few times here and there for video poker machines and pokies. I doubt its going anywhere but up tbh

OnlinePoker66.com : Free online POKER Room & Forum! seemed like a really strange appearance on page one for online poker yesterday, i notice today it's slipped down to page two.

There's a few other odd ones lately too. .

The freeslots site is very spammy one, and it's /poker.html inner page has a lot totally off-topic links pointing to it, and that seems to be tranfering to the main page. Google has been doing a major update for a few weeks, so I would expect this crap would fade out in a couple weeks.

I would imagine things would work themselves out eventually. The site doesn't really provide any information about free poker so it's not as relevant to users as your site. I would hope that Google would work this out.

That might be but it doesnt and hasnt stopped it from ranking for a whole pile of stuff.

It also has two results in the [free poker] top 50 on Bing, and two results in the top 100 in yahoo, so it's not a phenomenon with Google really, but rather just (currently) effective spamming.

Sorry, but I don't really think it's a spammy site. freeslots.com has long history and is one of the best free slot machine sites on the web, I play the games there since years ago. I am also their competitor on slots - Google Search, but I respect these guys.

I don't understand why freeslots.com would strike anyone as "spammy". It's free game site that (I guess) makes money through advertising.

They have at least one poker slot game that I can see. If that is where their poker links point to, I would expect at least marginal relevancy.
