    Default Scary Visitor - Corp.Google.com

    I noticed yesterday I had a visitor from : Corp.google.com

This is a big site of mine and produces half my income, I fear I may be a target of some bad shit. I link out to my other sites, but no paid links. But I am still pretty concerned.

I googles Corp.google.com and it would seem it is a manual review, perhaps from a complaint or something, I'm not sure but I lost sleep about this last night.

Hoping some experienced people chime in here and let me know what they think.

It looks like a manual review to me, from what I've seen via webmaster world and seoroundtable... It might possibly be related to adsense. If you're "above the table" though, it doesn't seem as there is cause for worry.

Well, hmmm. I do have several sites with adsense, all non-gaming. So now I think maybe we have two possibilities:

    Adsense Check

    Complaint Check

Is there something wrong with your site that would make you worried. If there is not then why worry.

Your site has nothing to worry about I'm sure, considering how much spammy shit is out there - and you aren't a link buyer or seller. Even if some ass did complain for some reason I doubt you have much to worry about.

They do manual reviews on a random basis, not necessarily in response to complaints (although one of their filters could have triggered the manual review).

If the site is doing something Google doesn't like, it's possible you could go several months before anything untoward happens. You might just find the next filter is based on whatever you do.

As long as your referral traffic doesn't go down, don't worry about it. They are constantly looking at Web sites to ensure that their algorithms and filters don't harm innocent sites.

I've recently learned about a so-called "Google Slap" in the PPC adsense space, where affiliate sites with bids were bumped down the keyword quality standings if Google didn't think that they added value.

The yap in these places is that Google doesn't like affiliate sites for PPC.

It appears that much of this "downgrading" checking is done manually - so that might be the source of the visit?

That kind of quality review has been in place for years. They are trying to weed out thin affiliate sites that offer no additional value. If your sites are robust and offer additional value to the visitor, I would think it unlikely that an AdSense review would produce a decline in rankings or traffic or result in some sort of arbitrage penalty in AdWords.

Randy, the only way to be sure if anything untoward is going on is to watch your Google referrals. They will plummet suddenly and flatline near 0 (or at 0). If that doesn't happen, you should be okay.

You'll want to distinguish between Paid and Non-Paid referrals in Google Analytics (if you're buying PPC ads).

    Well,

Don't forget that they have been banning webmasters from AdSense quite easily stating they didn't bring "quality" traffic.

Something that the webmaster couldn't verify by himself.
