    Default Forum SEO Question

When starting a forum is it better to focus on writing articles (posts) focus on high traffic keywords that will take some time to rank or focus on writing articles (posts) focus on low traffic keywords that can easily rank for within a week or 2?

I am asking because I am good with seo for blogging not so much with forums unless its pretty much the same. I am also really great at social media marketing so most of my traffic comes from twitter, etc.

Any other tips on building a forum would be great as well.

You can write a thousand articles for a forum and get only 50 people to sign up, of whom maybe 1-2 will try to post anything.

The people most likely to join new forums are people looking for help with specific issues. They tend to NOT stay around very long even if they get an immediate answer.

The best model for launching a new forum is to bring together a group of like-minded people who feel they have nowhere else to discuss their favorite topics. You might want to draw attention to your forum to "lone wolf" bloggers who don't have many connections with other blogs and forums, to active off-topic discussions in forums and blogs that are not equipped to handle the subject matter, and by capitalizing on news and media events for which few forums really have much relevant discussion.
Free advice and opinions are provided without any warranties or guarantees. I cannot do anything about the facts.

I agree with what Michael said. In addition, if you post a few pictures of naked women, you will see a dramatic increase in regard to time spent on your site

LOL! Or naked men, I suppose. I don't know. I haven't tried that approach.

Thanks Michael, that's a great idea. I didn't think about getting bloggers to join. I will try to find some poker bloggers.

I would agree with previous posters. Great suggestions.

Regarding the question about high-traffic and low-traffic keywords. I always prefer to choose keyword which includes both high-traffic and low-traffic terms.

    Example:

"online poker rooms accepting US players"

This long and specific keyword also includes very general and high-traffic keyword "online poker" or "online poker rooms". That way, you will gain advantage of specific keyword for which result you should see early, but also you are not "killing" the potential for some general and high-traffic keywords.

Okey, maybe this example is not the best one, but you got my point.
