Default Does redirecting carry link juice

I have a site that i don't use anymore, but the domain has pr so i don't want to just discard it. If i redirect it to one of my used domains, will its link juice be passed to the domain it's directed to? If not, i suppose i'd be better off putting a doorway page on it.

Google webmaster forum thread on that subject:

redirecting a bought businesses domain - Webmaster Central Help

(the answer appears to be yes, but not necessarily all of it)

Yes it usually does, and sometimes will even pass anchor according to Cutts.

Yes it does pass, but at times Google gives it a few weeks (depending on the domain history and other factors) to pass the link juice to the target domain. They check for similarity of the content, anchor text of links etc.

I thought people got all sorts of penalties trying to manipulate things by redirecting domains?

The redirected domain is still ranking on google for its keywords. Will it continue to do so?

if it's redirected properly with 301 http code, then they will be gone next time Google sees it.

That makes sense. So will the site it's redirected to usually take it's place for the keywords it ranks for if the meta etc is correct, as technically the new site will have all of the anchored links pointing at it instead. Also, is there a way of redirecting a domain so the directed domain continues to rank? For example, if i owned fulltiltrakeback.com and ranked highly for full tilt rakeback, could i redirect that domain to my sites full tilt page while continuing to get traffic from its position?

that's a tricky questoin. If google thinks that the target domain's content is similar or holds authority, it will start ranking within a week.

In other cases it can take a few weeks.

But to be honest, it all depends on each case.
