Default Article Marketing and Supplemental Index Question

    Hey Folks,

So I've been submitting some quality articles from Ladyholdem to article directories recently, and it got me thinking about duplicate content.

Let's say a few people use this content on their website. After a few sites do this, some syndicated articles may end up in the supplemental index.

My question is, do syndicated articles in the supplemental index pass value through links, or do they need to be in the main index for this to happen ?

    Thanks.

Well there is debate over duplicate content - but needless to say if ppl start 2 place that content on their sites then this is good - even though its duplicate - as long as it wasnt duplicate in the first place then your passing value from the first index and then from there its up to the domain it lands on - its all catching long tail... but the question of weather its better on the other domain as dupe than the article syndication side.. yea... i would say most likely - or why would we be buying link of authority sites and not just releasing articles.

if ppl syndicate you article by rss or social means then thats even better - it begins to echo out almost -but yea i wouldnt palce duplicate content on your main site - but if its an interesting article then shit why not - it lends better to other verticals than gambling - as the gamlbing community doesnt really talk much about gambling - they seem to gamble instead - but yea if it was for car or something - your articles should get pick up more - but dont circulate an article you;ve posted in a press release - always use fresh content where you have the control.

    good luck seb

Thanks, I think Michael M answered this in another thread.

I believe he said it was consenus amongst SEOs that outgoing links on pages placed in the supplemental index don't pass much if any value.

Google have clearly stated that if it's indexed, it passes value. They also clearly stated that unless the duplicate content is obvious spam, and therefor de indexed, there is no duplicate content penalty. They also stated that something may not show up for a certain search as it's duplicate of pages that have shown up for that particular search, but if you change the search terms, if it's indexed, it will show up in certain searches. In short, all links will count. No guessing or debate involved.

PLUS, If your bio box points back to your site, then its obvious to google where it originated, no matter how many other sites use it, so more kudos to the originator.

Maybe they said that twelve years ago, but that hasn't been the case for years.

If you are the writer of said articles, and submit them to article directories, the best outcome for that article is to get published by numerous other webmasters and have them link back to you using the keywords you selected in your bio.

There is NO penalty or cost to you in how many times it happens, but you do hope that at least some of those sites have a decent PR and are indexed.

This is the basic premise of article marketing and you shan't be looking too deep into the logistics of this still very effective strategy.

I know a lot of people do not link to use toolbar PR (or even PR) as a reference. Nevertheless, I believe in supplemental all pages are PR=NA, and as such pass no or nearly no juice.

To answer OP, the question is not so much which article version goes to supplemental. The goal is to have at least one version somewhere that pass good value, so it could be located either at the first spot you posted it, or at another spot, does not matter.

This strategy must be done on a good scale to lead to some results, and you will get many links of low value and a few of good value, but you cannot predict which ones.
