    Default too many internal links

When deciding to get a link from a page, we all know that if there are too many outbound links, it is a bad idea. Probably for 2 reasons, (1) it looks like a link farm and Google may discount links from such pages, (2) the page rank is shared with too many other links.

Now, what is there are mostly a lot of internal links, like 100, 200 or more, as can be seen at some CMSed sites, with tons of tags links or whatever; so it seems that (2) would apply, meaning getting a link from there would not be worth much, because it is shared with too many other links.

But is it so? after all this is an outbound link that we get and share with internal links. Does not Google somehow assign different weights to internal links versus outbound links. Does anyone know about such topic?

    Please let me know.

Yea the internal links are internal to the IP address you are linking from so as much as google goes down them - this is increasing the authority of the website - the externals also relate to the quality of the site - so if say a site has viagra links on it or porn - i wouldnt place a link there -

i used to say no more than 25 externals - but some of the cients i work with wont go over 10-15 -

another think to think about if there are high externals is the prominence of your link - so would you prefer you link to be in the top half of the website or in the bottom half - you knwo what i mean - if there are 45 external links - if yours is the first of these 45 then that might be better than if your say pos 44...

but yea - think about the anchor texts of the links on th page too - so if there are 10 casino anchors - choose online casino...

    bla bla bla

but yea the internal links make the site the authority it is - old cenvention spoke of putting links in that too k the spider to the authority sites - so if your blog post is about building a wall - link tothe planning governement department - this way when it reads your post - they link your links to the high authority links from the same place... yea?

But yea - internal links are even shown different in the tool bars - no follow links too chould be taken as externals but at the same time maybe not as improtant...

in casino alot of links out are the affialite tabs - but this is what the site does - so those linksx are in keeping with the site and so google will mostly likely know its an affialite as the /?asdfabhj?dmyafftagboolox. and when it finds a dynamic url like this - it doesnt add the same wieght - hence why deeppage/ title tags are important in deep page link value -

Don't worry about the PageRank. If the link creates visibility or passes anchor text, you get more benefit than you would from PageRank.

Internal links don't really hurt the value of external links but the presentation probably would. Search engines look for signs that a link-bearing page is misbehaving in some way. If the page is a normal, user-accessible page within a site it should be okay.
