Changing Servers

Just last week I got a support email from my host provider that they would be doing a migration to a new office and my sites would all be transferred over.

After maybe 30 minutes one night - the site came back and all was good.

My IP did change though.

Checking on traffic - for 3 days i showed ZERO then today its showing like 10 visitors....

From 300-400 a day down to 10.

Is this something that is temporary because of the IP change - server upgrade migration? Will it gradually fix?

Wondering if this is common and just happens for a couple of weeks.


Emailing them is useless - takes week to hear back.
Phoning them your on hold 6 hours.

Could drive to their offices - (DID THAT ONCE) - I had to wait in lobby for 3 hours and 23 minutes.

Any ideas?

One idea is to change your hosting company.

Support with hosting should be no more than one hour via email and ticket support and 30 minutes by phone.

Who are you hosting with so I can be sure never to deal with them?

Yeah i agree the company I deal with is terrible.

Still waiting on emails to be answered from over 10 days ago.

Then of course the email with my inquiry on server switch and ip change.

Going to drive there again tomorrow - LOL - but this time I will walk right into their offices and risk getting arrested for trespassing!! LOL

I found out what they did.. :-)

I guess along the way they did something and they removed or edited my .htaccess file and some other mishaps...

So now i am doing it all over and solving 404 issues!!

There can be ranking change due to hosting change but don't worry this is a temporary change. Google will check it soon and you can find normal visitors soon.
