Default Looks like the layoffs are starting/continuing...

Lots of people I know have been laid off in the last week or two.

Boy things are really getting bad aren't they?

    Glad I have this job...

I agree, thank god for online poker. We used to work in hospitals so layoffs never really effected us but its been rough for people we know. My father has worked at this high end wood working company for years and years. He got layed off this month which really blows.

I read an article the other day that lotto sales are skyrocketing do the troubles though. I doubt this trend is the same for poker but it got me thinking about the lottery niche. I spent about an hour the other day doing basic research on the market. It seems to be very lucrative and much less competitive compared to poker. I easily made a list of solid regional type niches and profitable kw's that would be easy to crack. I have too much on my plate already so I doubt I'll get around to it for quite some time though so I don't mind sharing.

Here's a link if anyone is interested:

Well typically layoffs do occur in January, and I think a lot of the layoffs we heard about in 2008 were slated for Jan 09, so it's just now "happening" for a lot of the old layoffs.

On top of that I'm sure new ones are happening, def scary times.

My friend just got laid off.

Worked for the company for ten years, and they gave him until the end of the month health care and $3000... laughable.

I got laid off just before Christmas.

Think I've finally found something now, so I should (touch wood!) be ok. I was one of three, but I'd be very suprised if there aren't more in a couple of months time ...

I'm outta work now and looking for another job. The online stuff just isn't paying as well as it used to (Outside of poker sites). Hopefully things start to go up soon, or I just might have to jump ship.
