Default England vs Germany - what goes around....

So finally we will never have to discuss the '66 goal again...
Watched the match here in Hisaronu/Turkey, being the only German in a bar with like 100 Brits around me... now that was fun .
You have to hand it to the British, they accepted defeat with dignity. Evereyone agreed that in spite of the fact that they were clearly robbed a second goal by the ref, Germany was clearly the better team and deserved to win. And then, they may finally agree to use technology to avoid games being decided by referees making bad calls like yesterday - personally I think it is about time that the oldtimers in the FIFA start understanding that in a game where billions are at stake, there should be as little room for mistakes as possible.

I agree the better side won, the way england defended we didnt deserve anything from out of the game. As for new technology i do agree but it cant upset the flow of the game, if we was stopping every 5 mins to check stuff on video that would spoil the beutifull game imo. All it needs is a buzzer going to the ref's ear, if the ball crosses the goal line. Then there is no arguements. That ball was more than a foot over the line, that was crazy...

    Jesus we were terrible.

I questioned whether we'd win, but I at least thought the players would look like they gave a crap.

Fair play to Germany - they were the better side by a country mile while England defended in a way the local pub team would be disappointed with. It could have been 6 or 7.

Although they were terrible for the most part, you can't forget that they theoretically pulled it back to 2-2.
Had that goal stood, the game would've been completely different. Their morale must've hit the floor and when you start a 2nd half chasing a goal in that mindset you always leave your defense open.

Germany were better overall, no doubt, but the scoreline was very flattering.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the mood at half time would have been a whole lot better if Lampard's goal had stood, but if you're suggesting that having it disallowed knocked the stuffing out of them, then they're more pathetic than I thought.

Like you say, they were lucky to go in at half time 2-1 down. They were in the game (theoretically) and they had 45 mins to get back out there and get another goal. Any half decent professional should be able to get themselves up to give that a go ... especially if you're playing in your last World Cup like a lot of them were.

As disappointed as I was that the goal wasn't given, I don't honestly think it would have changed much. For whatever reason, we just weren't up for it, which is why we lost. Not because of a bad decision.

Agree 100%. I wasn't talking about replaying every foul, out ball or not etc. - just situations where a goal camera or a sensor helps you to decide whether the ball was behind the goal line, at most in penalty/no penalty situations or when a red card decision is at hand. But I can see that list becoming longer and longer already, so maybe not such a good idea.

Or do it the way it is done in tennis - each team can challenge 1 or 2 decisions per period and ask for a camera view, when they have used their challenges, they just have to accept whatever the ref decides.

    LOL

If that goal would have counted, Germany would have actually "tried" in the last 20 minutes...

The final score would have been 6-2 or 7-2 for Germany.

Germany took it REAL EASY on England in the last 15-20 minutes.
