Well done Spain! Very deserving of the win they are the best team in the world by a mile.
I agree with you. Germany will be a force to be reckoned with next World Cup. Their undoing was a lack of experience. But the way Spain play is so enjoyable to watch and I am glad a player like Iniesta scored.
I wanted Dutch to win. Little fed up with the Spain-Barcalona hype that surrounds their teams. Spain play extremely defensively ,4 defenders, 2 defensive/holding midfielders, 2 centre midfielders and 1 striker. aka 6-2-1, hardly inspirational football.
They play exactly like barcalona, hold possession with all these silly one touch passes and movements. I find it a little boring a few games.
Spain struggled throughout the tournament in my eyes. A opening defeat scraping top of their group against chile. They struggled a 1-0 victory over portugal, then 1-0 against paraguay, 1-0 against germany..then guess what 1-0 against dutch aet.
Conclusion, I have the upmost respect and pleasure to watch any team win the world cup. Well done spain for meeting expections.
But to say they are the best team by a mile or were the best team during the world cup is just wrong. Remember a lot of Spain's winning goals were in the last 20 mins too.
I also think talk about the world's greatest footballers such as messi, rooney and kaka was proven absolute rubbish.
If anything, I think players such as Forlan, Mueller and Scheijder looked more like Maradona and should never be forgotten for their efforts. All of them were fantastic and the true "great" players of 2010.
Have to agree with addz. The best by a mile is gibberish. They had A LOT of luck through the whole tournament. Paraguay was supposed to lead by 1 goal and it would have been very tough to win for Spain then. They made like 3 offside goals. They needed like 10 chances for 1 goal. That's not an indication for being the best team.
The game yesterday was just ridicolous. Robben should have made 2 goals already. Iniesta and Puyol (and Nigel Deyoung) were supposed to see red cards. The biggest mistake the Netherlands made was the exchange of Braafheid. This guy is a proven sucker and was on the toilet during the goal or whatever.
It was a strange final with very questionable decisions and calling Spain the best team by far is wrong in my opinion. I'd say they played well but not better than the other great teams during the WC.

Maybe not by a mile, but Spain is easily the best team in the world, they have been for a while. It helps to have pretty much all of Barca playing for them. They always dominate posession because they have the best midfielders in the world in the likes of Iniesta and Xavi, and the best attacking defender in the game, Sergio Ramos. Where they could improve is with strikers, Torres is a joke.
The silly one touch passes isn't what football is all about, all we want to see is freakish free kicks from Scheijder and the like![]()
Without Robben the Netherlands are an average team. They were very unimpressive in their victories leading to the final, they were just doing the job that was necessary against mediocre opponents. Their first real test was Spain where they played boring counter attacking football and messed up a few very easy chances.
What I don't understand is why it has to take a lot of goals for a team to dominate or to be an entertaining game.
Results are measured by goals man. Sure you can look at the little things. But if robben managed to finish one of his efforts, and spain's was ruled a foul in the build-up we'd be saying dutch are the best team in the world.
It's a fact that spain struggled the entire tournament.
fyi: I don't consider a team holding 70% posession entertaining football. I prefer teams driving into the box rather than holding it that deep then playing offside balls to villa.
Who are we talking about here? Spain scraped through four 1-0 victories in the knockouts. The dutch also overcame brazil.
I agree spain are the best team in the world (i have to now). They certainly have the best players. imo germany, uruguay and dutch were all excellent though and all deserved something.
You are right man, I was being results orientated. I learned not to be when I started playing poker mate.
If you want to talk about bad officiating, then why was the dutch player not straight red carded for kicking a player in the chest? Are you telling me Tim Cahill's tackle was worse then that?
