    Default Review badvariance.com

Im looking to get some reviews and feedback on badvariance.com

since the last thread i made, ive made a bunch of money pages, reviews of poker training sites, reviews of poker sites etc and added calls to action on most of my article pages.

What do u guys think of the site and do u have any ideas of where i should take it next?

    Thanks

I would change your SEO description, because currently it says "Personal blog of a Andy covering stories on playing professionally, tips, strategies and psychology". Add some keywords in there.

I'd also add masks to your affiliate links, so instead of fulltilt.com/source=874894rjkwhejhwdfjhwdj, make it badvariance.com/go/fulltilt or something like that.

that ODP, i added a no odp to the robots this morning when looking over the seo.

I didnt write that, that was an ODP editor.

if u look at sidebar, i have like bv.com/visit/full-tilt-poker/ - did that today also, gonna update my landing pages. with them. but seriously, this stuff is not that important, these are all little things, i lack a fundamental strategy to make bank with this site, i need a plan tbh. i cant just decide to create more content, get more links and hope people click my aff links, can i?

    thanks,

i think its a huge improvement. I would personally use pages for the reviews and i would add a review box to the left (either above or below the article categories box) that said

    Poker Site Reviews
    Poker Training Reviews
    Poker Tool Reviews
    etc.

these would lead to sections that had a structured page for each review section. The blog setup for this doesn't work well. You would continue to have the left toplist review area, and then have specific sections that displayed tons more reviews.

I would not include reviews in your poker strategy article and news posts area. There is plenty of "look here" with the huge left side bar. Flooding your blog / news / strategy area with reviews takes away alot from the site. If somebody wants to find that info on your site, your navigation is setup well enough that they will click through to it.

if you continue to write good articles and maybe begin publishing promo news articles as well, your site would definitely get alot of revisits and people will pay attention to the review areas and revisit them.

when migrating reviews to pages, i would remove commenting from reviews, people usually dont have good things to say, and they take away from your CTAs.

for your page title, i would spice it up with something this is seo friendly but has some click through power in the serps... for example

Online Poker Training + Top Site Reviews FREE @BadVariance
    ...
FREE Poker Training + Poker Site Reviews @Badvariance

Lastly for now...Your template setup has no H1 tags on the home page, this is a big issue, currently google most likely jumps to your first h3 tag and decides that your sites main topic is "Most Viewed Posts" "Latest Posts" and "About The Author"

yeah definitely, good articles will build strength over time and also increase the serps for your main page.

i would make sure you get the h1 tags in place for page titles, that page doesnt have h1 tags on the title either.

also, i recommend setting up php redirect files for all affiliate links just like you have for the rooms in the side-bar. easier to manage and currently on that page, you are giving linkjuice to deuces cracked about 5 times on that page

Was just reading your site, thought id randomly point out a spam comment:

    Poker Triple Barrel Bluff

That comment is spam (it links to his site) but you could keep it if you want cos it makes your post look good :P

Does it get clickthroughs? That's the most important factor right? Not some arbitrary opinion on whether it is pretty or not.
