    Default CasinoReviews.com Need Suggestions

    Yo

Can you take a look at casinoreviews.com and give me suggestions?

Yeah, it looks pretty decent, but there is alot wrong with it from an seo standpoint so against my better judgement i'm getting ready experiment with an overhaul with a custom wordpress setup.

The ultimate goal is to list live and online casinos with info, and have a setup that encourages people to actually submit feedback for the reviews.

The site gets alot of traffic for live casino related searches, and while thats not the huge moneymaker, i think it can be if i optimize the live casino reviews section to encourage more community involvement.

currently, the site is joomla and uses an addon called jreviews. I think its great and all but severely limits the ability to have breadcrumbs and i've had to do alot of url hacking, and the urls still suck balls for the most part.

Anyways, i'd love to here some suggestions on what to include on this overhaul to encourage visitors to actually submit their own reviews for live and online casinos at the site much like tripadvisor.

one thing i've learned about user submitted reviews and ratings in the modern day of the internet is that they don't work for the most part, hence why youtube recently changed their rating system to a simple like and dislike button. Way too much abuse and ungenuine rankings...thats just how it seems to be. Even worse when you're talking gambling related content, as well all know about rigtards and such.

Nonetheless, i think the ability to submit feedback and info about personal experience can be really good, and ultimately cause this site to actual be useful.

Would love to hear and appreciate ideas.

yeah there is a land based section, thats the part i would like to do more on and figure out how to monetize better, as that section actually draws the most organic searches.

I think you have a great domain a nice looking site and a great idea.

Perhaps you need to prime the pump with the land casinos.

Put in a "house review" for each casino, or at least start working on the ones near you. Perhaps you have to pay for some content, some review for each state. I think people are less likely to leave a review if there are no other reviews.

Perhaps a "was this review helpful" button for each user review. You could then have non helpful ones not show, like yahoo answers does.

    Good Luck!

thanks, the land casino area is a daunting task, which was originally intended to be easy by allowing visitors to submit their own reviews. Very few visitor reviews have been submitted despite lots of traffic to these areas, and i can see why on the land casino area

You can see that a site like tripadvisor is successful with this. I think the key is to actually put some decent info about each casino and include images from expedia and such. Right now, i'm trying to scope out tripadvisor and see if i can mimic some things that might encourage user reviews.

First of all I would be approaching the land casino's and getting them to pay for their profiles.

What purpose does the date serve other than to waste valuable real estate?

The carousel next to the header isn't - but thats what would be expected from the graphic.

There's too much in the header nav and its too small - cut it down and add in dropdowns if necessary

The "popular games" is pointless - why am I clicking there? - I know what they are - I wanna see the top 5 casino's or top 5 online recommendations for those games online.

The main panel seems to be shameful of the "top 10 casinos" - the text is too small and doesn't set up the rest of the page and its right aligned.

There is no reason to click those "visit casino links"

I can't be bothered looking any further - the site is directionless atm.

I thnk the "tripadvisor" scenario is flawed - what is the motivation for a casino player of any standing to post a review? I understand the tripadvisor submitter motivation but not for casino's.

I luv tripadvisor - but the wide spread appeal of it won't apply to casino reviews - imo.

I'd scrap and do the hard yards yourself - but thats just me.

    thanks, points taken and appreciated.

i'm eventually heading in the pokerlistings type route with the games articles with toplists above the fold and better articles with extended info towards the bottom, as alot of visitors for the terms this site gets actually do read those articles.

about paid listings, that will be tough to do as eventually i plan on having around 400 land pages or so. I did think about getting links from the casino sites though which i think will be easy with this domain if i do those pages well.

one personal experience I had at the site...

I tried to click up on the top right of your header... where the different screen shots of games are... i couldn't there. frown.

I might make that a link to a page that shows your choice of which casino is the place to play each of the top casino games with screenshots that match up to the ones in your home page header.

    schweet domain.

thanks i agree, when first setting up the site i was just trying to keep precontent links at a minimum and minimal images so that the site would load fast, but i'm going to have to beef up some stuff on the revamp.
