I was under the impression that wordpress was pretty much just for blog style sites. This might be good for some sites but the one I'm currently working on, I can't see in a blog format. Am I wrong...

I know basic html and css already. Should I just use that to build myself a site? Should I take the time to learn java and php?
Should I use something like Joomla?
