Best old-school game was Elite, that had such a deep level of gameplay in it especially considering what the programmers in that age had to deal with.

Yeah Philosphers Quest sold like 25,000 copies I think, made my Dad what was in those days a lot of money.

Philosophers Quest was his main one, Countdown to Doom, etc.
Awesome. More of an English thing but I grew up with the BBC Micro, my Dad wrote the best selling text adventure games for it and did very well from that.
