Default Why you should always add a Sportsbook affiliate page.

Sports betting is huge, now thats an understatement i know but for the purpose of this post it needs to be said.

One or two events a year can change your affiliate account forever heres an example.

The football world cup can be a windfall for sign ups even if you end up with a negative balance at the end of it.

In 2006 the Football world cup was held in Germany and if my recollection is correct i probably did about 150-200 sign ups via about 15 sportsbooks in that months not a great deal but certainly better than any previous month.

Now that world cup was a disaster for the bookies and affiliates, probably one of my worst months ever but as time as gone on i have noticed that sign ups at this time are starting to make me some good money.

Now to get that amount of sign ups in a normal month is difficult but an event like the world cup is unique and is a big attraction.

There are other events like the Euros, Olympics, big horse racing festivals and of course the superbowl.

For those that run poker sites or casino sites it would make sense to have at least one page set aside for sports betting, most sports betting websites now set aside a page for poker and casino because they see the value in this.

The same now applies in reverse.

Add to this that most sportsbooks also offer, Bingo, Poker, Casino, games, competitions, free bets, money back specials and so it does become much easier to integrate a sports betting section without having to sign up to endless programs, chances are you are already in teh system.

Of course content is an issue, so you can start with a simple free bets page and for those that visit your poker site or casino site they are invaraibly looking for rakebacks, free chips, promotions etc, so adding a free bets page would indeed fit with most sites profile.

Another reason to offer sports betting, especially for USA residents is that it opens up the european market for you, yes you can offer your poker/casino offers to the european market but in europe and asia they are much more in to sports betting than anything the USA can offer because of the laws.

There are also many that want to just do sports betting that really have no interest in poker/casino simply because they have not been exposed to it, by having some sort of newsletter etc you would be able to offer a whole host of products to all sections of the gambling audience.

You can offer free bets to your poker members who may ahve never done a bet ever, and same applies to sports bettors in relation to poker/casino.

I know this is probably teaching people to suck eggs, but a simple page on your sites offering free bets is easy to set up, maintain and it gives you an entrance in to another sector that could boost your earnings signifcantly if not your own audience.

At bet365 we find cross-selling works really well with our common wallet systems: the player keeps the same username and password to be able to play throughout all products, and can easily transfer money from one product to another one.

I must say however that a "pure" sportsbook audience might not know how to play the best poker. As they are used to place bets higher than an average bet on a hand, they might loose their bankroll too quickly as they are more likely beginners in poker.

So in addition to a free bet page i would advise to write some content explaining the very basics of poker, and how to start a poker career without going bust
