Rob A.: I do see that your site wass causing disruption to other customers on this same server. pokernewsboy.com (addon domain name) seems to be the culprit and the account was suspended. I am looking into how to get this resolved

Rob A.: I think it had to do with a very high traffic load and it was causing the other sites in the same server to be delayed on unfunctional

gerard poltorak: as the whole point is to gain traffic

gerard poltorak: and i cant afford for yous to suspend my account everytime i have a vister
Rob A.: Be realistic . This is not caused by one visitor it is caused by many many visitors all at once with with possible redundant coding that is also causing extra loads to the server
Rob A.: What I can do is change the IP for pokernewsboy.com so it no longer pointing to the hosting server. You will need to get a dedicaded hosting server for this account. Then I can reactivate the hosting account for the other names that would be located on it
Rob A.: Shall I do this for you now?
Rob A.: We had to reset the host 3 times, so it wasn’t just a one time burst.

Rob A.: No. It is unlimited hosting for a shared environment with regualr sites. You have a very different kind of site that the general public do not have

Rob A.: Because you are using extreme database usage and php that is bogging down the server
Rob A.: You have a site with a deign similar to facebook or wow. Not your average "this is my business" site

I don't really know what else they can say? If they don't offer anything other than shared hosting and you've outgrown that environment, you need to move on.

This is why I am glad I have friends in the hosting business. They always told me "unlimited hosting" doesn't mean unlimited hosting. There is always something in the T&C that goes against that.

That's some sour shit. It's pretty hard to build and retain visitors on a poker news site these days so a blackout just like that can do a lot of damage. If traffic was a problem they should have kept you in the loop so you could switch in a timely fashion. I love Mediatemple myself, but everyone has their own opinion when it comes to hosting.

Yea its not end of the world. Its now in the process of being moved. To be 100% honest I dont know much about hosting. I assumed it was unlimited, but the worst thing was while traveling today and finding out my hosting had suspended my account and PNB being down. I warning would have been nice.

But PNB is in the proces of moving so all good now. Just had to rant.

Complete BS, I know your traffic numbers from speaking with you, and it's laughable that they can't handle them.

The comparison to Facebook is laughable ... that guy was a complete idiot.

Where he may have been right is the redundant code. Perhaps you broke the code, or installed a bad plugin and ended up with an infinite loop somewhere.

Still though, it's not like he offered any concrete solutions, he was just useless. He just said you have a "special site" like Facebook, LOL.
