This is the convo I just had with the register.com customer support:
Rob A.: Hi, my name is Rob A.. How may I help you?
Rob A.: Hello gerard
gerard poltorak: hi
gerard poltorak: for some reason my account has been suspended
Rob A.: I will be happy to assist you with this issue
Rob A.: Could I get the domain name in question please?
gerard poltorak: my account domain is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx
Rob A.: Thank you
Rob A.: Before we go further, I would like to take a moment and confirm you to the account. This will allow me to openly discuss the account and assist you.
Rob A.: What is the name of your first pet?
gerard poltorak: xxxxxxxxx
Rob A.: Thank you for the verification
Rob A.: Has the site been dissabled for a long time or just recently?
gerard poltorak: i only got a message today
gerard poltorak: it was up this morning
Rob A.: Thank you
gerard poltorak: im on holiday and got a phone call while on the boat
gerard poltorak: so not had time to get on till now
gerard poltorak: do u know why it has been suspended
Rob A.: I need a few minutes to research this for you. Please be patient, I will return as soon as I have the information you need.
gerard poltorak: k
Rob A.: While in the account, I see that rakebackcarbonpoker.net is expired. Should we renew this name as well today
gerard poltorak: no
Rob A.: ok. Thank you
gerard poltorak: let it expire
Rob A.: Thank you for waiting. I appreciate your patience and will be with you soon.
gerard poltorak: hi
gerard poltorak: u still there
Rob A.: Yes. Sorry for the delay. I am contacting the server technicians to see exactly what the issue is and how to get this resolved
gerard poltorak: ok
Rob A.: I do see that your site wass causing disruption to other customers on this same server. pokernewsboy.com (addon domain name) seems to be the culprit and the account was suspended. I am looking into how to get this resolved
gerard poltorak: why would it be causing problems
Rob A.: That I do not know yet. Still investigating the issue
Rob A.: I think it had to do with a very high traffic load and it was causing the other sites in the same server to be delayed on unfunctional
gerard poltorak: ok
gerard poltorak: so how do i get hosting that can cope with traffic
gerard poltorak: as the whole point is to gain traffic
Rob A.: One moment please
gerard poltorak: and i cant afford for yous to suspend my account everytime i have a vister
Rob A.: Be realistic . This is not caused by one visitor it is caused by many many visitors all at once with with possible redundant coding that is also causing extra loads to the server
Rob A.: What I can do is change the IP for pokernewsboy.com so it no longer pointing to the hosting server. You will need to get a dedicaded hosting server for this account. Then I can reactivate the hosting account for the other names that would be located on it
Rob A.: Shall I do this for you now?
Rob A.: We had to reset the host 3 times, so it wasn’t just a one time burst.
gerard poltorak: i know
gerard poltorak: i get a decentof amount visitors
gerard poltorak: but i would expect register.com to handle it
Rob A.: We are on a shared hosting environment and this site unfortunately would require a dedicated server
gerard poltorak: how much is that
Rob A.: I do not know. We do not offer that service
gerard poltorak: ok so i need to move off register
Rob A.: Fastservers.com or hostmonster.com may be able to assist you with that issue
gerard poltorak: ok can i get a refund for the rest of the year
gerard poltorak: i only recently re newed
gerard poltorak: so can i get refunded for my time
gerard poltorak: and i will move everything
Rob A.: It appears this was the only name that was causing an issue. All other names are still fine on this hosting account
gerard poltorak: but i paid expecting to host all my account on the one host
gerard poltorak: thats why i paid so much
Rob A.: I can cancel the hosting totally and issue a refund
gerard poltorak: i can go and pay $15 a year for the rest
gerard poltorak: ok ill do that
gerard poltorak: i will get back to you in a day
gerard poltorak: as i will need access to get all my files
Rob A.: Actually, I am sorry but I cannot. The charge is too old and the system will not allow me to do so.
gerard poltorak: so I can move them all
gerard poltorak: what do u mean
Rob A.: The acount in unheld and you can get access to the account and all other sites online
gerard poltorak: the charge is to old
Rob A.: I cannot issue a refund for anything past 3 months
gerard poltorak: so you wait till a few days after 3 months
gerard poltorak: then take down my site
gerard poltorak: and suspend my hosting#
Rob A.: No. Tghis is not the case Gerard
Rob A.: Your account is unsuspended
gerard poltorak: this is the case
gerard poltorak: so is pnb back up
Rob A.: Everything but pokernewsboy.com will be up
gerard poltorak: but thats the one i need
gerard poltorak: the rest are worthless
gerard poltorak: pokernewsboy is where i make my money
Rob A.: Sorry. I cannot reactivate that one. You have access to the hosting account to get the files for this name and then transfer them to a dedicated hosting server
gerard poltorak: i will have to move it
Rob A.: yes
gerard poltorak: so why offer unlimited hosting
gerard poltorak: when that obviously a lie
gerard poltorak: i paid for the premium hosting
gerard poltorak: and said its infinent
gerard poltorak: yet thats lies
gerard poltorak: i will have pnb moved by next week
gerard poltorak: im on holiday
Rob A.: No. It is unlimited hosting for a shared environment with regualr sites. You have a very different kind of site that the general public do not have
gerard poltorak: and wont be doing it this week
Rob A.: Was there anything else I could assist you with today?
gerard poltorak: but ill make sure no one ever from the poker comminuty uses register.com
gerard poltorak: whys my site different from a site of the genaral public
Rob A.: Because you are using extreme database usage and php that is bogging down the server
Rob A.: You have a site with a deign similar to facebook or wow. Not your average "this is my business" site
Rob A.: Thank you for visiting Register.com - Don't just make a website - Make an Impact!
Rob A. has disconnected.
