Good UK Hosts

Who do you guys recommend for hosting in the UK? Price isn't important once they've good uptime and excellent support.

I've been using Vidahost for nearly a year now, absolutely superb support. Like I will email them a query and have a reply within minutes, without fail, every time. Price is good too. Uptime - not had any probs at all. Highly recommended.

dont want to hijack this thread but I would interested to know good hosts and also what anyone pays for hosting
eg. something for a poker forum and site

I have a feeling I have been getting bullsh*tted for years on costs (looking at £100 per month)

there is paying for reliability and there is paying for a nice fat middlemans margin

last time I queried why it was so much my "site needs loads of spec blah blah" -
not really buying it when I figure people are running bigger and busier forums and
sites than I am on hosting / servers for half or less the price

although I havent really got a clue how to figure out if Im getting a good deal / bad deal or how much I need to run it - it still feels like too much

I've been using Daily (co.uk) for a few years and haven't ever had any problems. I've not run any large websites though so I wouldn't have expected any problems. £100 a month sounds like a huge price to me, but again all my sites are small and don't have much traffic so cost like £15 a year.

I havent had a chance to check them out

but hopefully you'll also get some other suggestions from other helpful affiliates ;-)

Vidahost here as well, just one site I registered there with the cheapest package. Good support, server speed ok, no probs whatsoever.

FYI, Webfusion is garbage. I'm in the process of moving to Vidahost. Thanks for the recommendation.

Vidahost was very bumpy going at the start. They took forever to setup the VPS. Took forever to respond to support issues. And they royally fucked up the name servers we asked for causing a bunch of our sites to load hit or miss. They also do not give you full access to WHM (for VPS) so anything you want modified you need to have them do.

I mean their uptime is pretty good, just little things that'd make it easier for me (since I do hosting too) I can't do with them.

Also note that they won't let you have individual Class C IPs. They'll only allow it if you order a secure cert. Which ends up costing around 50 pounds per year.
