Default Downtime/slow loading problem at Bluehost

I'm just setting up two sites there, but today I am having big problems. Either loading very slow, or not working at all. Anyone having the same problem there?

Spent half hour in the chat with a support staff. He kept going about not optimized MySQL queries and I kept telling him that thosetwo sites have a pretty standard Joomla site configuration and it works without problems on xxxx other sites, so it must be a server problem.
But of course, according to him, no server problems.
Well today I have been working on one of the sites for 6 hours straight and experienced two 15 minute long periods of total unresponsiveness of their server.

For what it's worth, they offer an upgrade in pricing to improve server performance. I don't think it's put quite that way but the basic hosting package provides essentially awful service. I use Bluehost for a number of smaller, less active Websites. Have tried to improve site speed with caching tools but they can get in the way.

There are a lot of other hosting services out there. Many of them offer similar low-grade service at the bottom of their plans. That's just the way it is.

I have a client who runs a bunch of sites off Hostmonster and they seem to run pretty good but I don't know what grade of service he pays for. Their service may be no better than Bluehost's.

Of course, a lot of "hosting companies" are just resellers for these guys, or GoDaddy.

When I started the cht with the support guy,one of the first things he suggested was to get an upgrade. Speaks volumes ...
Actually I chose Bluehost because someone here recommended them.

I usually check out hosting companies on the basis of other people's recommendations but I always go in with the expectation that I'll be dealing with crap service if I only purchase the lowest level of service possible.

That expectation has been well met many times through the years.

You get what you pay for (sometimes).
