Default WTF hostgator want me to send them a copy of a photo id and credit card.

I've been with Hostgator for years and they've always been pretty good. But yesterday I opened a second hosting account with them and today I get an email saying they want me to send them a copy of a photo id and credit card. I replied telling them to fuck off which may have been a little harsh but this seems like some bullshit to me.

They probably want to make sure that your cc isn't being used by another person to open a second hosting account. In any case, I always prefer to use paypal with them.

I just sent them a copy and covered all the numbers.

I was once asked to verify myself like that in a similar way. If they get a possible fraud alert from the bank they have to protect themselves by making sure they are doing business with the right person.

It's still ridiculous to have to send id for hosting. They also suspended my account yesterday before I told them to fuck off. I have since send them what they wanted but I am highly annoyed with this whole situation. If I didn't pay up front for a year I'd be done with them for good.

    Account still suspended.

I just told them to get it working today or I'm cancelling everything I got with them.

The new account is cancelled and now I'm just waiting to move a site from my reseller account before I cancel that as well.

The reason this is happening is because endurance international, the private equity company that has been buying up all the hosting companies has a policy of stripping out the customer support so they can increase margins and make more profit. Basically they are just bleeding the company dry.

Yeah endurance is a POS. Stay away from any companies that they buy.

if you notice on hostgator re-seller they just moved all my accounts to the same IP.

    Super annoying
