    Default Be aware of webdesign company Dizzain.com

    I am not someone that usually posts these kind of threads but I decided to give a warning here for my colleagues.

    I hired this company Dizzain to design a wordpress theme for one of my sites and had two problems:

    First, I realized after the 4th draft that they were not following many of my suggestions (I even gave them a header and footer and showed them sites for inspiration), and that the quality was nothing near their portfolio (they were like simple wordpress themes that you get for free). -> first lesson learned: do not trust portfolios so much.

    Secondly, I paid 50% up front, canceled the order in the middle and got no refund at all. Of course I was not expecting a full refund, but a partial refund would be fair in my opinion. -> second lesson: maybe it is good to discuss refund policy first.

    I know design is something hard to work with, because not always the designer will be able to capture whats on the mind of the contractor, but I think the the design companies should be able to acknowledge when they couldn't get the work done and accept their mistakes.

    Hello Marcello,

    Unfortunately the problem is not with the design. It’s just a matter of mutual respect between a client
    and a web design company, a kind of respect to the work that has been done in order to meet the
    expectations of both parties.

    1) We offer our clients several mockups to choose from and pick the one that fits their vision best. We
    offered you 4 unique mockups desgined to your requirements.

    2) We do understand that it is impossible to read the client’s mind and capture his or her vision of the
    ideal design at once. That is why we offer six revisions of the design but you chose to call it quits after
    only 2 It would have been quite logical to try to bring the matter to a close as the bigger part of the work
    had been already done.

    3) You say that we keep better works in our portfolio – Marcello, your website could have ended in our
    portfolio too if you had been a little more patient and hadn’t given up after two rounds of revision.

    4) As for refunds. Please understand that 28 hours of designer’s time do not come for free. This is
    why it is a standard practice among digital agencies to charge a 50 – 100 % retainer for the project. To
    illustrate the situation, here’s an example:

    A client comes to a nice restaurant and orders a well done steak. After the dish is served, the client takes
    a few bites, calls the waiter and says that he would rather have his steak rare. The waiter will go and
    place another steak in order to appeal to the customer. The customer takes a few bites from the second
    steak and then tells the waiter that did not like the steak, the restaurant and the waiter himself – he takes
    off and slams the door. This will be rude at the very least.

    Marcello, we are sorry about the situation and hope that you found the design company that could deliver
    the website to your vision.
