Well Ive got a CSV file containing data in six columns that I'd like to insert into a SQL database.

The import function in MySQL isn't functioning, so I'm going to need to do it manually. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this ... hence I'm prepared to pay someone who does know what they're doing to get it done.

It should just be a case of writing a parsing script to reformat the data.

    Hope that helps

    aha

ok load the file into excel and save each column into it's own csv

then follow instructions here: Modwest FAQ and Knowledge Base - How do I import delimited data into MySQL?

repeat for each CSV file you have..

Ensure u change the delimiter from \n (in the example) to , or \t (if u use tab delimiting)

oh yeh, i like the mysqlyog app, have a look at it, it will save you Lots of hassle/time/bullshit. there's a free trial too...

Thanks for the link rake - much appreciated.

Will that converter still work if I want all of the columns in my CSV file to appear in one table in the database? Or does it mean that I need to have each column in their own table?

    Cheers
