Main page title and description

I don't use Wordpress. Wordpress could die tomorrown and I wouldn't care, but...

A friend of mine has a wordpress blog. My friend can find where to change the title and description of inner pages (individual blog posts, and tag pages), but can't find where to do it for the main page of the domain.

Where can that be done? (Maybe the same question is, what is the index page of a typical wordpress design called... index.html, home.htm, default.xhtml.... what?)

Its in the admin panel 321 -

Go to Settings and General and you can change the title in there.

The description - I have only used the plugins to change that part. All in One

Once uploaded and activated just click on "Settings" and on the "All in one SEO". In there you will need to enable the plugin for it to work and fill in the required information which will have all the settings for the homepage.

I highly recommend headspace2 in place of AllInOneSEO. You'll be able to add meta title, description (and if you choose keywords) right from each blog post, then for the other data you can follow path settings > headspace > then navigate around for the different modules for setting meta title and description for those.

I'm not a fan of using plugins, but HeadSpace2 is the one plug in almost every site I have uses and most use only that.

Reasons why I like this one:

All in One SEO adds credits in the source code - HeadSpace2 does not

All in One SEO often has bugs during updates, sometimes compatibility issues etc, they get resolved fast but it can be hassle waiting.

Overall its much more flexible. Example using a page as home page, and blog as URL or doing something advanced later on with your site structure or modified loop: will have a much easier time when its in headspace2 from start. All in one SEO is kinda out of the box, where HeadSpace has no intrusive markup and works fine as is and when doing more advanced stuff still works in the same places AllinOneSEO presents a challenge.

i've been using Gregs Ultra SEO recently. Awesome plugin. Used All In One, then headspace and now this. Extremely happy with the change thus far.
