It shows the Crawl errors in Google Webmaster Tools.
It shows the 404 addresses but not the source...

It's usually bots searching that do that with google right? I dunno if this will help but its a cool tool to have its for firefox - right click and inspect element it give the source of web pages Firebug

I do have firebug, the problem is: the 404 tool tells me that some image is missing. But I can't find out which page of the site links to that image.

You can use Xenu Link Sleuth: Find broken links on your site with Xenu's Link Sleuth (TM)

Not all 404 problems originate with your site. If Xenu Link Sleuth doesn't help you resolve your problem, then most likely there is nothing you can do but implement 301-redirects on the bad URLs.
