A month ago I would probably have said it depends what you're after - wordpress for simple blogs and joomla for anything else. But to be honest I'm now favoring joomla for everything and will be moving one of my wordpress blogs over to joomla.

It can be slow, but you just need to get a decent host. What country are you looking for? I know a great UK hosting company for joomla, v quick and relatively cheap. They only offer shared hosting though.

Has anyone tried out the cloudaccess service that joomla promote? It's US based and all of my sites are UK focused (even the mainstream ones) so I've never given it a go, and it's a bit pricey but could be worth it if the service is as good as people say.

My sites are all Joomla, I am just used to working with this CMS. One problem with Joomla def is the way it builds URLs. You can very easily make a change in the CMS setting and all your URLs suddenly change. Had some major problems with broken links because of this.

I think it depends on your requirement. if you want to run small or medium size website then definitely wordpress is for you because of it's simplicity and user friendly back ends but for a large community, I would suggest you Joomla.

SEF is default on joomla 1.6 right?

I am using both now and definitely Wordpress for small sites and looking forward to 1.7.1!
