Sites with black backgrounds

Yea I was talking more about the miserable looking all black backgrounds, think blogspot.....

It just seems like a lighter background would be much more appealing and easier to read for most readers, unless of course you're going after the poker emo market, lol.

PokerSplendor did a great job of using a black background. Most sites however do not.

Ok, I kind of agree now. My new website has a black background, but the content boxes are white with black text. All black with like white font is harsh on the eyes imo.

There are a number of sites using black/dark backgrounds that I think is really good

Of course you need to have a lot of images and/or white areas to make up for the lack of colors. Using black colors is one way of adding a more exclusive feel (if you do it right) to it I think.

xxxwww.rakebacklovers.com is so damn beautiful, it's a mix of red and black in the beginning but black in the middle, so beautiful

I am going to rescind my previous statement. We are designing custom review pages here at PAL for each program and a few have black bg's that look pretty sick.

I guess they just have to be done right!

I considered a black background...then I thought that older people or people who couldn't see well would have a hard time reading. I also find that when people use a dark text ( generally blue ) it makes it very difficult to see.

Black backgrounds with white text isn't good for my eyes.
