Wordpress coding question

Hey,

I've just had a wp theme coded which includes a review page. I asked my coder how I will be able to edit the poker room details at the top of the review page - the usual room name, bonus amount, software, star rating etc.

He said that as the review page is static it will have to be coded in to add different values for each review and recommended that we install the 'advanced custom fields' plugin and edit it to work with my theme.

Is this the best way to do it? I said that I'd prefer not to use a plugin in case of future incompatibility or lack of updates etc

I would have liked the individual room info to be added in a way like it is on the dealer theme, without the use of plugins. Is this method a lot harder to code? I'm not really an expert with php

Any thoughts on what the best way to do this so I can get back to him would be appreciated.

It is my understanding that the dealer theme still uses a plugin, whether or not it's an actual plugin or a function called in the functions.php file, it's still a "plugin".

What incompatibility are you concerned with? Also, you could just use the regular custom fields that are part of the wp core, it just won't look as pretty as the advanced custom fields plugin.

Was just thinking long term if the plugin wasn't updated and had problems with new versions of wp.
Thanks for the reply, been talking to a cpl others and I think I'll go ahead with the plugin option.
