I am in the process of developing my site and need some help with my permalink structure.
suitedspades.com/category/xxxxxxxxx
How do I get rid of the category? Any help is much appreciated.

Custom structure just remove the /%category%/
End result /%postname%/ in custom structure (found in permalinks settings).

Ok, I tried that. I have /%postname%/ and my categories still come up with "category" in the url... if it helps diagnose it at all, my posts that are filed under specific categories come up as the name of the post in the url... For example:
suitedspades.com/full-tilt-vs-pokerstars/ <--- that is filed under a category, but the category itself has suitedspades.com/category/head-2-head
Any other ideas?
I don't think I'm reading that last post right, you lost me.
Hoping a WP guru pops in here because I've only been using it a couple months myself lol (but what I pointed out here to you was one of the first things I learned).
Gl man.

Thanks MJ...yea someone explained that to me also(and went in and even did it)
I noticed that imteaz(i think) had the same problem.....actually will pm him real quick and see if he got it figured out.
My last post: All I was saying was that I had a Parent Category(on the home page) and when you clicked on it, then you would have "category" in your URL... but if you had a post/sub topic under the same Parent Category, it would show up fine in the URL.
For example: "Poker" as my parent category. When you click on that then my URL looks like suitedspades.com/category/poker <---- thats the problem but if a subcategory of that parent was "texas hold em" ("Poker-->Texas Hold Em) then the URL looks like suitedspades.com/texas-hold-em <---just fine
I wasn't sure if that would help in the diagnosis is all...hope I explained that better..... just found it odd that a parent category would have "category" in it and not the sub(child?)...dunno
