WordPress permissions? (e.g. author, admin, etc.)

I have a Blogger blog. I've been planning to move it to WordPress at some point. I have a question about editing/admin permissions.

One problem with Blogger is that people can only be either admins or authors. If they're authors they can't edit other people's posts. If they're admins they can delete other admin accounts (like mine). I need people to be able to work on my blog (e.g. editing posts regularly) without being able to delete/change my admin account. Does WordPress have more sophisticated permissions that can handle this?

Editor. An editor can create new posts/pages, edit other peoples' posts/pages, but cannot mess with any of the functionality of wordpress (plugins/themes, etc.) or user settings.
