Permalinks Structure

Currently my structure is /%postname%/ which works fine when I am building pages. However I would also like to start a category entitled articles so I want the url structure to be www.domainname.com/articles/articlename.

Can anyone tell me the correct url structure to do this?

But I'm not sure how you're going to change one without the others changing as well

I think it should be ok because you don't need to put pages in a category.

I typically use the /%category%/%postname%/ as well... I think you should be fine.
