    I have been using these 2:
    WordPress › Google Analyticator WordPress Plugins
    Google Analytics for WordPress - Yoast - Tweaking Websites

    They both got the job done.

    Unless you want to do something "special" I don't think there are a huge difference between the plugins. Personally I ended up having the theme add in the analytic code (not all themes support this), since I just needed tracking of visitors and page views.

    I'm not so new in blogging but i'm a newbie using wordpress as my blog hosting site.

    I would recommend you to use Google Analytics or Statcounter. -- These 2 sites are reliable.

    The Yoast plugin is working for me great.
    Before you activate it make sure that your template contains the necessary function calls in the header or the footer file (depends on where you want to include the GA javascript).

    For the header look for this code in the header.php file of the template:
    HTML Code:
    <?php wp_head(); ?>
    For placing the GA code in the footer look for the following line in the footer.php:
    HTML Code:
    <?php wp_footer(); ?>
    If the above php is in place then you can activate the plugin and just give it your generated GA id.

    Google Analytics is really a reliable tool. I've been using this tool for years although it gives you a 2 days delayed information, atleast its realistic.
