301 Redirect Help

I am need of a little help with a redirect...

I am looking to 301 redirect a domain and all of its pages to another sites page. Can anybody help me do this? I have been able to direct the homepage of the domain, but not all the inner pages.

Got it figured out, for anyone who wants to know I just put this in the .htaccess page:

redirect 301 /old.htm http://www.site.com/new.htm

Had to do this for each page

Here's a cleaner way to do it. All your pages and URLs will get redirected from just these three lines in a .htaccess file:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Kevin, if it's a big job I found it handy to add in comments so that I could split up the redirects in to sections so that I could easily check everything if I needed to and keep everything ordered nicely.

Just start the line with a # and you can add in a comment. So for example:


# STRATEGY REDIRECTS

redirect 301 /old.htm http://www.site.com/new.htm
redirect 301 /old.htm http://www.site.com/new.htm

# OTHER REDIRECTS

redirect 301 /old.htm http://www.site.com/new.htm
redirect 301 /old.htm http://www.site.com/new.htm
