    Default What is this WP issue I'm having?

    Recently, over the last 10-14 days I guess, I'm getting this extra code added to my WP pages when I update a page. They are generally about 2 sentences long and don't show anything on the page. They typically say something about 'proxy' blah blah blah and show up at the bottom of my page in html view. Twice I've had a TON of code added to the bottom of the page, just jibberish letters, numbers and symbols. I keep erasing it out, and everything seems to be fine, but it's getting annoying to remove this junk.

    Anyone else having this problem, or does anyone know what this is/why this is happening? Any solutions to offer?

    Thanks!

    It sounds as if that's database related (read: hacked)

    This is what it looks like most of the time. It doesn't do anything to my sites, they're all performing just fine.

    <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--></input><input id="jsProxy" onclick="jsCall();" type="hidden" />

    Why would someone hack my sites to do no (noticeable) damage?

    I put the code into Google and I'm seeing the same thing at the bottom of a lot of posts on forums (under signatures most often). Mine isn't showing on-page though, and I have yet to figure out what it is. On the theme I'm seeing this on, I don't allow comments, and the theme is gutted quite a bit. Any chance I could've removed some code from the theme that is causing it to create this?

    EDIT: I found something about this. It looks like it's either a broken extension in Firefox (whatever that means), or a virus. I don't think it's a virus, I'm pretty well protected I 'think'.

    My concern is that it is appearing for some reason in your posts, yet you didn't put it there or wish it there. I'm concerned about your wp database, though by admission - I'm not the expert on database integrity issues, nor databases for that matter.

    I'd pay attention to see if anything else suspicious is occurring.

    I found a couple threads at other forums with others having the same issue. It seems as though it's caused by having the Firefox Highlighter on. When it's turned off it goes away, but I can't seem to figure out how to turn it off. At first I thought they meant the highlighter like the one in the SEO for FF plugin, but I'm not so sure that's what they meant now. I tried that and it didn't stop it.

    I don't know about this, but with a bit of searching it seems that it might be the Browser Highlighter extension for FF. Details for removal are here hxxp://www.browserhighlighter.com/faqs.html. The logo to look out for should be the same as the one at hxxp://www.browserhighlighter.com/. hth.

    Cool, thanks! I've disabled it (couldn't uninstall for some reason). Will see if it worked.

    That fixed it. This was the most retarded thing I've seen in a while. Why the highlighter adds code to my posts I can't figure out. Anyway, it's fixed now, lol.
