Cooperation needed perhaps?

Ok - Been working on and off on my blog for past 5 months www.makingapokerwebsite.com

Now I am an experienced writer so I haven't had any problems writing for the blog.

I think I know a reasonable amount about SEO (not that I'm a guru or anything though). Anyway at the minute I'm no.2 for my main terms making poker website on Google, this despite the fact that I haven't done any link building.

I even know my away around WordPress to a reasonable degree.

Anyway... where I am getting really bogged down is doing code editing. If I want to make what should be some relatively simple changes I can get bogged down for hours or even days sometimes, so either I learn how to code php, xhtml and css files etc. or I got to find someone who can do it for me.

I can't afford to hire a company to do this for me and tbh since I might need sporadic help in this area I don't know even if that would be a good idea.

So basically looking for someone who can code to help me with my blog. I'm guessing this could work in more than one way. One could become a partner in my website which I think has a lot of potential or alternatively in return for help with coding issues on my site I could help out on your website in areas that I am stronger in i.e. either writing article(s) or seo stuff.

Right now, even $350 is a stretch for me tbh. A few months ago it wouldn't have been a problem but alas now I really can't afford to be paying out for stuff unless I absolutely have to. I was really looking for someone else to get involved with this and perhaps future projects as trying to do everything on my own is a bit too much. I mean what happens if you do a great theme for $350 and then I want to start making changes here and there, would I have to do those changes myself? Would you be able to do those changes, and would you charge for those changes?

I dont mind helping ppl but Its not like your gonna get a 24/7 support on a $350 Theme.

But like i sad, i can do quick changes, images etc. but not 8 hours work.

Yeah I realise that 24/7 support on a $350 theme isn't going to happen. I guess what I'm really looking for is not necessarily someone who's business is doing design/coding. I want a partner, who's forte is design/coding or at the very least who would take over some of the responsibility of that area of the website(s) (hopefully will be more than one website in the futue).

In regards to what I want doing with the site, well I had my site 90% the way I wanted it and then the theme I was using would no longer work with WordPress 2.8. so I've had to get a new theme, that I still haven't fully configured and not 100% sure what it can and can't do, perhaps I can still make lots of changes myself without outside help, not sure until I try. I guess my main task would be to get the site advertising ready - although I don't expect to generate any revenues for a while, it would still be good to have stuff in place for this. I've signed up to OIOPublisher but it's not implemeted yet in this new theme.

Anyway it's that whole area that I'm thinking perhaps I should leave the decision making to someone else, sinceI'm only a one man band and really can't afford to hire someone right now - that's why I'm pondering about partneringing up with someone, could be interesting for the right person.

you can always learn you know its very easy, it wont take long to learn html / css and after that you just have to play around with a wordpress untill you figur out the wordpress loop

I think you will have a hard time getting a buissnes partner on a forum unless you have like 1000 posts, ppl on forums tend to see post as an status/trust thing.

Oh well, good luck with everything and remember to boost up your posts lol

you can always learn you know its very easy, it wont take long to learn html / css and after that you just have to play around with a wordpress untill you figur out the wordpress loop

Okedoke. I know my way around WordPress reasonably well at this stage. I actually do know some html and css but it's like something I've dabbled in over the years without ever really studying up on it. Maybe I'll just finally bite the bullet and learn it properly

I hear yeah about it being difficult to get a business partner unless you have zillions of posts. Still it's probably no harm mentioning it here as I have been around the online poker scene for a good while now, and have had a successful site in the past, as well as being a writer for Pokerstars, also there's probably at least 4 or 5 posters here who know me so who knows the word might get around. Was worth a shot anyway I think.

tbh I'm not that cut up about it if no one is intertested here, it's just that I feel a bit swamped. I'm trying to keep things ticking over by making a living from playing online poker and trying to develop this website too, can be a bit much at times.

Most of my sites look very much like yours, and they are doing fine when it comes to conversions.

When I were getting started I wasted roughly 300 hours trying to code an ideal design before I decided to scrap the whole thing and focus on the things that I knew I could do. I have kept my opportunities open by using a design that will be easy to extend if the number of visitors to one of the sites can justify it, but otherwise I just don't do anything unless it is really important.

With that said, I may be able to help you out with some of your problems in return for articles/links, but I'm not sure that it is your best option.

My current site design had pretty much zero planning tbh, as you no doubt saw it was extremely basic, I just changed it two days ago, it was basically a case where the previous theme I was using no longer functioned and I wanted to get something on quick that worked. I get the feeling though that it's quite extendible. It's the thematic theme http://themeshaper.com/thematic/ - it's one of the most popular themes on WordPress and is highly rated. Anyway I'm hoping that it's something I can work with - believe me I don't want to spend 300 hours coding and designing. I spent quite a bit of time searching for the previous 'Ikarus White' theme and then more time tweaking it and yeah even recoding in parts only for it to be bust under WordPress 2.8.

I think it might be best after all to work through this stuff on my own after all alright.
